Education Q&A

Ut Dental School Houston, Advice please

ECept Education > Online Degree

Q. As a predental student, I have been recently accepted to all 3 dental schools here in Texas (UT-Houston, Baylor, and UT-San Antonio). Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences at these schools? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

A. Congrats on your acceptance letters!! Im here at UT also, and patiently waiting to hear from the dental schools, but nothing yet :( since my grades aren't too great. I wonder if you could answer a couple questions for me... When did you get your acceptances? what kinda grades/dat do you have? Do you know how many letters the schools sent out on Dec 1? Im just really anxious and curious about what it takes to get the first letters. I am certain that all of the schools that you list will give you a great education and learning experience. If you have no preference after all that you have read about these schools and seen at your interviews then I would go with the lowest tuition. Today many new grads are hampered by high student loans. The average debt of a Tufts grad is well over 100k these days; this is just like have a mortgage on a vaction home without the vacation. 20 years ago I was also accepted to all 3 schools. As you know all three are state supported, so the tuition should be about the same. I teach very part time on the faculty at Baylor, and from my understanding all three schools are still capable of providing an excellent education. So the decision should be made on other parameters: Do you want to live in Dallas, San Antonio, or Houston? Who has more female dental students - and are they more open minded to female students? Do you want to specialize, and if so what is the track record of acceptances from each school in that specialty?
