University Of San Diego Law SchoolECept Education > Online Degree Q. I don't know if the list is down or just slow; I haven't received much mail recently. Anyway, here is the brand new, and revised, USN&WR law school ranking. As usual, I don't like the ranking and I don't quite agree with their results. But this version is better than the ones they have had in recent years, and at least it doesn't have major name schools not in the top 50, like last time. A. I call it the "Kornfeld Effect." Now that you and your tiresome and unceasing "watch the BU/BC gap" essays have left the campus of Boston University, the reputation of BU has shot up to close the gap with Boston College. I predict a similar effect in next year's survey: after a year of "Kountless Kornfeld Komparisons" between New York University and, say, Fordham University, a similar pushme-pullyou effect will manifest itself in next year's rankings of NYU and FU. I hope you are right about that since it looks like I'll probably end up at Fordham Law this fall, but there is quite a difference between NYU and Fordham in the rankings (about twenty spaces). I think there mostly worthless anyway; any given school is most likely not any better or worse than the five, maybe even ten, schools above and below it. BTW what do you think of Fordham? Outside the field of law (or other specific field) nobody knows (or cares to know) the difference between Georgetown and George Washington. There are lots of opportunities for people with a law degree that don't necessarily involve working with or for attorneys. First on the list is going solo- the people you need to impress are potential clients, who are outside the field of law. :)
