Umuc Asia Distance EducationECept Education > Distance Education Q. I am considering enrolling in University of Maryland University DE program and getting my Bachelors in Computer and Information Science. If anyone can give me some feedback on this college and/or computer program, I would appreciate it. A. I got my BS in IFSM from UMUC in the traditional manner, and I am finishing my last course in an MS program via DL. My experience at the graduate level (since taking DL courses to finish my MS) has been that UMUC does not offer a very rigorous program, they pander to the lowest common denominator regarding level of performance, and they are not business oriented in the sense of serving the needs of their customers (students). I have been very disappointed in DL at UMUC. I can't comment specifically on the DL experience with UMUC's CMIS program, but I can say that their courses historically have been pretty darn good in terms of content. My experience over a number of years was with their traditional/local facilities. As Todd Green points out separately, DL adds a new angle to the process that ought to be considered. That being said, UMUC is, IMHO, a rather large step above (e.g.) University of Phoenix. In both cases, a lot of what you get from the course depends on how much you put in. However, I still think that UMUC is a much better starting point for self-learning than UOP ever will be. You should also consider City University (www.cityu.edu) and Athabasca U (www.athabasca.edu) if you're interested in some comparable programs. I can't answer your first question, but I'm sure Larry will be along shortly with the information. Yewmuk does have an MBA program that can be completed entirely online. They use a cohort system. Financial aid is available, and no GMAT or letters of recommendation are required. Kind of pricey, but definitely a solid choice. http://www.umuc.edu/prog/gsmt/mba/mba_home.html
