Q. do you have any knowledge about training management software ? Does anyone know of software suitable for a small business (up to 50 employees)to manage the training progress of their personnel? The training is NOT online. This would be straightforward database stuff I imagine, but the organisation involved works with severely handicapped people and doesn't have the skills to write an in house application or the funds to have one written

A. -I wrote a program a number of years ago (way back) in 1.53 that we still sell today, called SkillsTracker. The program was designed for small training departments in the HVAC \ PHC industry as a replacement for the old index card, or paper binder many trainers originally used to record staff particulars and the various training they have participated. The goal of this program was simplicity, and as such it is self-contained, meaning it will not export to another d-base. It will do basic report, printing, sorting, etc., and provides the user with 21 categories in which to store various training data. In a nutshell, it is a flat file system that allows the user to store a variety of data in a variety of categories for their staff. It is very easy to use and can be modified by the user to suit just about any industry I suppose.
