Texas GedECept Education > Continuing Education Q. I've never been to this ng, and I don't know if I'll get a response. Anyway, I'm a 21 year old male, who has the desire to be a teacher inthe public school system. But I seem to have alot against me. I dropped out of high school, got my GED a week later, aced that test, and previously in school, I aced the Texas TAAS test the first try. I do not have the money to pay for college, and don't even know if I'll be able to get into college. I would like to find somewhere where I can maybe get some assistance in achieving my goal(grants, loans, schools, etc.) I live in San Antonio, Texas. ANY help would be appreciated! This has been my desire for a few years, and now I need to act on it. A. I never saw the original post by this troll, BUT a GED IS a high school diploma !!! Also, most colleges do not require a high school diploma ( a fact they don't tell you) I did a study on the subject once. My youngest daughter got tired of high school in 10th grade. As her SAT's were 1440 (in the beginning of 10th grade,) she simply took the bus to the local community college and enrolled. The only problem she had was the computer didn't believe her birthday. Despite the SAT's they had her take their own entrance exam to be sure. They then talked her into taking her GED's and she "aced them" with a 315. Maryland gave her an Honors Diploma - which says nothing about GED on it, but she put the GED on her Cirrocumuli Vita. She then transferred to an extremely prestigious college, with $30,000 of MERIT scholarships - she has since received another $9,000 of merit scholarships. ALSO, anyone who wants to teach elementary or secondary school instead of college can usually get a full scholarship by simply promising to teach for a number of years.
