Education Q&A

Texas Driving Licence

ECept Education > Driver Education

Q. I leave For Texas March 2nd, I was wondering if any of you have any info on when I can apply for my Texas driving Licence and how I go about it?

A. 1. When you get to Texas, the first thing you want to do is get your SS#. K1's are allowed to get a SS# to work, but do not wait until after you get married because they will not give you one because you are considered out of status. 2. Get married 3. Go to DPS office with SS#, passport, and marriage certificate with you new last name and ask to take the test. Written and Driving at a cost of $24.00. This is the easiest way and without the hassle of returning to get a new license with a name change. They will charge you an addition fee to change your name on your license if you get married after you recieve your license. Hopefully this answered your question and feel free to ask for more advice. My wife has just gone through all of this too.
