Q. My son has received two tickets and is under the age of 18.He attended Violator School within the past 18 months and after reading the California Vehicle Code extensively,I find nowhere that says it can only be taken once every 18 months.I've heard that from many people, but I can't find a written source for this information. On the other hand,a friend said that he was told by a Violator School instructor that there is no limit to the number of times you can take it each 18 months, but that the fees double each time you enroll. Does anyone have the real story? Any help would be appreciated.

A. It is once every 18 months, statewide. You can't get a violation adjudicated to traffic school,or the point taken off your record, more than once in 18 months. It's a rule of court, set by the California Judicial Council, not a Vehicle Code thing -- or so I recall. By the way, since he's under 18,there are special provisions for restricting or suspending the license of a minor who accumulates points.I believe two points in 12 months gets further restrictions, three points gets a suspension. He needs to get his driving skills together,or at least learn how to be less conspicuous.
