Education Q&A

Sex education in public schools ?

ECept Education > Online Course

Q. Sex education in public schools ? Some 30 years ago former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, de-criminalized homosexuality, stating, " the government does not belong in the bedrooms of the nation, but what happens in public is another story". The second part of the statement you seldom hear. Well Canadians have created laws to protect all people and rightfully so. People get rights if they deserve them, we give special rights, we positively discriminate towards the disabled, the elderly, and we are now moving to take away the special meaning of the word 'marriage'. By the way, judges in Canad'a supreme court have been brainwashed to believe we are all equal. (part of the flawed thinking of communism). We are equal before God, or we are equal before the law. But we are not all equal. Seems like some 'hypnotists' have entranced people to believe "we are all equal". Wrong and a deceptive literal half-truth...! Contrary to some opinions, we do not treat all people equally, they are however equal before the law, and the law must fairly and realistically apply to them. We don't give everyone a disability pension, now do we; yes the law discriminates sometimes for valid reasons ? So I ask a simple question, if the government decides to change the definition of marriage, what will the sex education classes in public schools of tomorrow teach the children of heterosexuals, and where will we draw the line ?

A. The problem with your logic, is that there is no special meaning to the word marriage. Many years ago, my ancestors were married in old Scotland. It was done by the two of them making a staement that they were man and wife. No church and no clergy involved. Thus no religion involved. Yeras ago, when a marriage meant something, prehaps you could say there was a special meaning. But in the modern world, over 50% of all marriages end in divorce. The number of single parent families continues to go up, as does the number of married couples that have decided not to have children. Once that divorce rate passed 50%, the SPECIAL anything about marriage disappeared. As for sex education in pulic schools, it should teach the modern ideas. There is no sense teaching some myths of the past. Most people have no idea what Canada is doing. The courts in most of the provinces have already struck down the ban on same sex marriages. Most provinces are conducting same sex marriages. Yes, there is a bill before the House of Commons. But what happens if that bill was to be defeated. Nothing happens. The law before parliament, is only to confirm what is already legal. Those provinces, are conducting same sex marriages. That's what the documents say, marriage. Not some lesser word, that the fundies want to use. Some of them have authorized that you no longer say man and wife. And you know what, no matter what the fundies say, the vast majority don't care one way or another.
