Need Help on New Jersey Driving School

ECept Education > Driver Education

Q. My wife just came from overseas. She is looking for driving schools in central NJ, so she can take lessons and get her driving licence. I have 3 questions: 1. Should she take written test first before she contacts any driving school? 2. What driving school did you use before? Any recommendations? What to look out for? 3. For someone who does not know driving at all, usually how many hours of lessons does he/she require? Thanks in advance,

A. NJ driver's license, now there's a joke. If she speaks English, she can go to any DMV office and pick up the NJ Driver's Manual, and study it. She can also take a written test at any (I think) DMV office. If she can't drive altogether, she doesn't need a driving school, just a NJ licensed driver to practice driving. I believe there is no set number of hours required to take the driving test, except you have to sign up for a driving test, and they make you wait 4 weeks (I think). In order to get the license, she would have to pass the driving test. The driving test consists of driving 5 MPH in a parking lot, while obeying traffic signs and driving on the correct side of the road. She would also need to be able to parallel park, and use the parking brake on a hill (remember to turn the wheels the proper direction). In other words, a joke. If you call up driving schools, they can tell you how to go about the whole thing. Also, the NJ Driver's Manual tells you the whole process.
