Kansas-City-Manager-in-Sales-Training ?ECept Education > Supervisor Training Q. I own a small company in Kansas-City and am thinking of getting into alarms. We already do cabling for cable TV, satellite systems, and computer networking. Where would be a good place to start? What company should we go with? and about Sales Training ? A. -The alarm industry has become a cash cow to many municipalities. Registration fees, licensing fees, fingerprinting fee's, etc can add up. Make sure you calculated all the necessary fees in your budget. Also make sure your aware of the local ordinances that cover alarm systems, companies, and employees. Competition is at an all time high as national companies scramble to sign up new dealers. You'll here all about the dealers who are making it. But seldom (other than here) will you hear about the many companies that have been cut loose from these programs. Locals are running in fiscal issues that are forcing some to trim install cost while maximizing monitoring revenue. This means that startup cost can take longer to recoup versus other industries. Regulation has also reared it's ugly head in the form of no-response, high false alarm assessments, on-site verification. Stricter licensing, electrical licensing etc. Make sure you're aware of the future, not only what's going on now. Try to draw as many parallels to your current operation so you can remember the issues that you didn't plan on, but eventually came up. Also, how much of your operation can be co-mingled? Unfortunately, because of licensing, it's possible you will want to keep some employees away from the alarm side so you're not stuck licensing everyone. The finial thing to ask yourself is, are you looking to this area blindly because it's related and seems logical, or have you noticed a need for another (or different) alarm company. - Manager in Training,SEE JOB DESCRIPTION,Labor Ready, Inc., the nations leading provider of dependable temporary manual labor to the light industrial and small business markets, currently has an opening for a Manager in Training in our Kansas City branch location.
