Real Estate Continuing Education CourseECept Education > Continuing Education Q. I am going to work towards getting my real estate agent license for Tennessee and would like to know if there is a particularly good study book/series? I have an undergrad degree in Accounting/Finance and have had one college course in the Fundamentals of Real Estate. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! A. Along with the previous information about obtaining any type of licensure, you should know the following: Most states require a two-part course of education. Don't get confused, because each part of the education may require two or more classes at an accredited university or other equivilancy school. Each part is then followed by a state issued exam, registration with the state, and licensure of applicant. The first part is the salesperson's exam, and finally the broker's exam. Usually there is also a required time limit that must elapse between the first and second courses and they're respective exams. And in some instances, there will be post-licensure courses in different areas of interest for the applicant. All-in-all, you can expect to go through the following: -About two years of education, including time elapse between courses (which will be approximately 4-6 courses at a university). This is at current enrollment cost. -Two state-issued exams, and continuing education courses every renewal period, along with respective fees -An initial registration and application fee of around $150-200, depending on current legislature of current real-estate commission -And a total investment of about $1000 before you're ready to compete against Century 21 in residential sales.
