Pre GedECept Education > Continuing Education Q. Are you also not knowledgeable about the most recent changes that make the GED harder to pass? Do you really know anything beyond a few ignorant news articles you've read? The author from the Manhattan Institute considers GED qualifiers to be equivalent to dropouts and stated that only 5% of GED adults who started at a 4-year college/university finish. So getting into college via a GED isn't seemingly a major reason for people to take them. So what good are they? Employers don't seek them out for their firms due to experience. Is this another manifestation of feel-good self-esteem at a point in their lives when it's probably too late? A. I take it that you believe the GED is equivalent to a high school diploma. That doesn't say much for a high school education. Or are you implying that high school graduates are down at the education level of people who passed the GED? That's pretty much the same thing. If you think along these lines, then you're ignorant or perhaps, even stupid to boot. GED score requirements for Wisconsin: Passing Score on Individual Sub tests 410 Passing Score on Test Battery 2250 Average Score Required 450 I'd like to know how many HS graduates, pre-GED, were of the same education level as today's GED takers. If one is going to make comparisons about the "level" of an HS graduate, then such things need to be taken into account. I'm not sure of what the answers might be. I do know that localized anecdotes hinder, not help, the finding of such answers. But I noticed that back in the early posting of this thread, that if one claims that the rates are rising due to a method of graduation that is of poor quality, then all other aspects of quality should be considered when comparing. And I'll add that rising graduation rates, with or without GED, do not in and of itself reflect a more, less, or equally educated (except on paper) populus.
