I need special education software games or online

Q. I'm looking for games either online or on CD/floppy disk for my cousins daughter, she is special handicapped but similar to autistic and need games that she can learn on the computer at home.

A. I have a 7yr old Autistic son who loves using the computer. You didn't say how high functioning your cousins daughter is. My son Jack really loves anything that uses words, spelling, numbers, shapes etc, but the response from the pc has to be immediate for him to play with it. I have found that the Knowledge Adventure 'Jump Ahead' series have been ideal for him. You can work your way up from Baby, Preschool, etc. etc. They have built in parents guides too, which monitor the progress of the child so you can see how well they are doing. I got them from Toys R Us (England) so they should be easy to get hold of wherever you are! Or you could try this website for some other stuff (my son uses some of it at his school, and I know that all the special needs kids use it, not only the Autistic ones) You start off with 'My World for Windows' and again build up the set as they progress. the site is www.inclusive.co.uk
