Q. I have just started exploring the option of getting my bachelor's degree online. I have found a few reputable universities, but my question is to those of you who have attended online degree programs or anyone else who may be able to help me. Could you please tell me how you funded your education? Did you fund it yourself, use student loans, scholarships, federal aid, or something else? I have already contacted the USDE and they have provided me with some information, but any additional information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

A. I think alt.education.distance may be a more heavily trafficked and more knowledgeable forum on this question. Not that you may not get a few responses here too, but the last time I was in that newsgroup, I felt that people were really knowledgeable and passionate about distance learning. You may also be interested in a few of the items at http://www.geocities.com/student_loans_bankruptcy/ng_howmuch.htm, although I'm not sure whether any of them respond to your question with as much specificity as you might prefer. If you do happen to get some pithy information about distance learning financing from other sources, please consider coming back and posting a summary in this group for others who might want to know.
