Q. For those who didn't see, USFSA has posted some online educational videos for adult skating. Check it out: Any experience about Online Educational Videos?

A. I see some problems with some of the video work however - for example view the last pattern in the Adult Gold moves list. It's the Inside Slide Chasse and I can't make out what she's doing. She's too far away, and/or the lens wasn't zoomed in enough. There's an up-close cut to Philip Dulebohn (I remember that name from somewhere!?) doing some of the steps afterwards that IS filmed closer, but it doesn't show the whole pattern. Another criticism is that the performances aren't stellar either. I can hear my coach yelling "WIDESTEP!" on the back-to-front mohawks shown in the Silver moves. Extension could be better too in many of the moves. The tapes or DVDs available for purchase from the PSA are taped better and are performed by better skaters. Still, the web videos aren't too far off the mark and certainly will show someone how an average passing performance should look. Lest anyone think that I'm too negative, I think it's great that they offer this for no cost to anyone who visits their web site. You don't have to be a USFSA member to take advantage of it. Good show!
