Is online education valued?

Q. This is a typical Immigrant situation I guess. Canadian education is valued more than education by any Canadian Employer than that obtained by the immigrant in his origin country. Is it possible to get education on an "online" basis with Canadian Institutes or Universities. I am in the Insurance field for the last 9 years having worked in Corporate Insurance with an South Asian Conglomerate Group. I have heard of Insurance Institute of Canada.

A. Try Athebasca University (Canada's Open University) http://www.athabascau.ca/users/international.html Distance education with exam centres all over Canada and international and you will have a Canadian qualification. Don't know if this will give you additional points for immigration? I know you get 5 points if you studied at a Canadian University/College but dont know about the Open University.
