Any advice about Ohio Drivers Education?ECept Education > Driver Education Q. Actually, the worst was _Signal 30_ which from what I understand is still required viewing for Maryland and Ohio highschool Drivers' Education classes. It's waaay lame except for the ripped-apart-real-people-in-death-and-agony scenes; some cinematography is timeless. In _Signal 30_ I particularly disliked the scene with the guy who got thrown seatbeltless from his undamaged convertible when he jumped a median - his little eeking noises still make me twitch when I think about not using seatbelts. Also graphic was when he eeeks A. In California (where I am no more), they showed a series of films that were pretty strictly gore 'n' guts. In the film, a trooper would set up the scenario: someone racing to run a red light, passing on a grade without a clear view of the traffic coming up the other side, pulling around a car stopped inexplicably at a red light at an intersection, etc. And then they would show actual footage taken by the police, the CHP, or the paramedics of the result. Two scenes that made an indelible impression on me were: -- a blonde woman in a trenchcoat, lying on the pavement in a pool of oil or blood or both, her dress hiked up and a shoe missing, bent back in a near circle so that her head rested on one foot. She looked like a dead kitten. (She was trying to catch a light, plowed into a semi at the intersection, no seatbelt.) -- a man, but that's all you could tell about him so covered he was in blood, sitting in his car with the windshield in his lap, his head bent back over the top of the seat and his mouth open and blood dribbling over his chin. He looked like he was gasping for air. The voiceover said that he was choking on his own broken trachea and drowning in the blood that was filling his lungs after the steering wheel crushed his chest. (He was hit head on by someone who was trying to pass over the double yellow line.) I can tell you that after many years out of high school that I still drive very carefully, even though I do speed occasionally...okay, frequently...but not faster than traffic. I check all of those mirrors, I never pull around someone unless I can see what's going on ahead, I don't tailgate, and I brake for stoplights.
