Athabasca University: Master of Distance Education ?

Q. I am looking at the Master of Distance Education course from Athabasca University very carefully. Is anyone enrolled and do you have any comments.

A. Don't know anything about the program but the school is solid. Not enrolled, but I looked it over earlier this year as a possibility. I was very impressed with the curriculum, and the price wasn't that bad either (all things considered). I've just enrolled as a non-program student for the Introductory course starting in January 2000. That way I'll know if I want to continue as a Program student in September 2000. I've been thinking about attending for the past two years since I saw the President of the University give a presentation at a conference I was attending. MOST IMPRESSIVE. My employer is paying half of my tuition as they wish to pilot a distance education project for K-12 students as an alternative to home schooling. When my supervisors heard of my application I heard comments such as "brilliant idea.....headed for a promotion...tis is exactly what the school board Superintendent wants to focus his energies on." My bosses also were a little in the dark about Athabasca University and technology in general so it is a GREAT opportunity to get in while the going is good and before the field becomes oversubscribed. In other words...!!!
